Nothing like a B lineup to get Josh Towers the support he needs. Just like that a pretty decent, possible seven/eight inning outing turns awry after a plethora of errors and brain farts.

I’d love to hear the reasoning behind trotting Stairs out there for the whole game. Reed Johnson needs a rest? Fine. This was the wrong time. The team left JT out to dry.

I think Gibby should have rested even more guys. With a guy like Towers on the mound we all know its a guarenteed loss anyways. Gibby was proved right in the end; so next time JT pitches im sure youll see even more people getting some rest.

Yes, that makes a ton of sense.

I don’t even know why I'[ responding to that post but 6K, 0 BB, 1HR in nearly 6 innings looks pretty **** good.

Sometimes I wonder if people even watch the games. If Josh pitches every game like he did yesterday, we’re looking at a 10-12 win season from him.

People need to get off the “Josh Towers was bad last year thus he must be bad this year” horse and wake up to the truth. Regression (or in this case Progression) to the mean, folks.

I agree with the first comment. Obviously Towers’ confidence is a bit fragile given his poor season last year and what does Gibbons do? He trots out a spring training lineup and the result? Errors, no offence and Towers getting booed as he walks off the field. Great job Gibby. Why don’t you rest Wells, Glaus and Thomas on Sunday when Josh gets his second start?

Gibby definitely didn’t give Towers a fair shake last night. Did anyone catch his postgame interview? Towers was right in saying the game was ugly and what do you expect with Matt Stairs in the outfield?

To his credit, Towers pitched pretty well – remember, he was pitching on 10 days rest. Once he gets into the flow of things, he’ll be a pleasant surprise again this year, since no one is apparently expecting anything from him.

I wonder if Halladay gave up 6 runs, 3 of them earned if fans would be booing him.

If Towers can pitch like that every game, he is going to win his fair share. He was better than I expected, but also it was one of the weaker teams in the league. He has some things to work on but so far so good for the Jays pitching. Im getting a good feeling about this year.

It’s pretty bad to be dumpin on Towers they some are. I have said it since Spring Training began that he deserves to be a starter with the Jays. He pitched a good game and just wasn’t given the defensive support he would have had if they were playing all their regulars. Either way, put Josh back on the mound with the regualr roster and you will see that this loss was his fault. MANY other pitchers have had outings worse than this and were not booed off the field. I can’t believe people who call themselves Jays fans would do that!!!
