NOTES: Entering the game, the Giants hadn’t scored in 21 innings. … Even after saying Sunday that he had "thought about" hitting Wells leadoff and possibly moving Rios to the middle of the lineup, Toronto manager John Gibbons stuck with the usual Rios at No. 1 and Wells at No. 3 order. Coming off an 11-run, 16-hit outburst against the Dodgers, Gibbons decided to stick with nearly an identical lineup vs. the Giants. … Former Jay update: Molina came into Monday’s game hitting .308 with six homers and 33 RBIs in 54 games; RHP Vinnie Chulk, traded to acquire RHP Jeremy Accardo last year, was 1-2 with a 3.33 ERA in 27 games; and former Jay Willie Upshaw (1978-87) is San Fran’s current first base coach. … Celeb sightings: by the Dodgers clubhouse after Sunday’s game — actress Alyssa Milano; at LAX airport this morning — rocker David Grohl.

It isn’t often I stop watching a Jays game, and it isn’t often I critize the Jays, but it happens each and every time they hand the ball to Towers and ask him to start.

Here we go again tonight-handed a 3 run lead and pitching against a team who hasn’t scored in 21 innings. Gives up 4 runs in 4 innings.

I do not comprehend why we haven’t done with Towers what we did with Okha. It’s clear the only time he can pitch is when the game is lost and he feels no pressure.

He certainly isn’t long term for us-so why not dump him now and bring up some kid from AA or AAA. Even if we get no one in return, dumping him will clear up a roster spot.

My personal vote is David Purcey, but anyone is better than this.

They have to GET RID OF TOWERS. Dont put him back in the bullpen send him home please.

Yeah, I tried to bet a bunch of people that Barry would homer off of Towers but couldn’t find anyone to take the bet.

I stayed up until the third inning last night feeling good about how Towers was pitching. Considering that the first run he gave up was more of Phillips fault because of the error that he made. But as I checked the jays website this morning, it didn’t surprise me to see that the jays lost the game because of Josh Towers.

The only thing that I am hoping for is,that after the allstar break the jays will have Reed Johnson and Greg Zaun and whoever else is on the dl back on the roster. And just maybe they might be able to make a run for the playoffs.

I hope Brandon League can return to form quickly when he eventually gets back. I’m starting to feel that it’s the only way that Toronto sends Casey Jansson to the 5 man rotation.

With Casey in there the jays would have a very respectable rotation.

As for starters, Janssen might be a possibility, but they can’t afford to lose someone who pitches well out of the bullpen. Why not try the rookie angle again, say, De Jong? Try your luck with the rookies who aren’t well-known in the majors.
