Game 40: Chicago at Toronto pregame

With it being photo day today for the fans, and no batting practice scheduled for the Blue Jays, it was a pretty relaxed atmosphere in the clubhouse. Well, except maybe for catcher Rod Barajas, who was being held down and pummeled by Aaron Hill and Vernon Wells. Boys will be boys.

Outside of the clubhouse, in the tunnel underneath the stands, Marco Scutaro and Alex Rios were testing out Rios’ new toy — a 3-foot long high-powered remote control sportscar. Rios, who has quite the collection of remote-powered helicopters as well, said the car can get up to 40-45 mph.

Today, Rios just had to warm up the engine. No driving it just yet. So, the car sat idling behind a tarp in the tunnel between the clubhouse and the dugout. Scutaro and Rios revved the engine a few times, but we didn’t get to see the car in action. I suggested Rios put his bobblehead in the driver’s seat.

Tough injury for Scutaro , it knocks the wind out of you and it hurts to breath . I have been hit with a spiked volleyball and I am sure mine didn’t hurt near as much as being hit by a baseball . I hope he isn’t out too long

I have a co-worker who is a sox fan , always whining about the Jays’ easy schedule . I finally told him he obviously has never looked at their schedule or he would have seen that the Jays have played more games than any other team, therefore less days off ( Sox have had 5 , Jays 2 ) and when the Jays played out west they had a night game, flew back to TO after it and had to play later that same day , no day off for them . In the end they all play 162 games . They all play every team in the ALE 18 times and the Jays don’t make the schedule . Here’s to a sweep of the sox, both white and red …..go Jays

Good game today , minor bump for Doc in the first but he tosses it aside and wins number 8 . I hope Snider finds his bat soon and that his lack of offence isn’t taking a toll on him mentally . Couple years back Hill went through a slump but Gibby stuck with him and he eventually turned it around , I think Snider will also

Roy Halladay is having a great season again! You gotta love the guy. It’s unfortunate that he’s being “out-dueled” by another “out of the blue” guy again this year in Zack Grienke.
Indigo,
I’m hoping for the same thing about Snider. He seemed to turn the corner briefly but has seemingly been back in a funk.

This may be bias but here goes….I don’t like football, so having seen that gigantic poster outside the Rogers Centre (the one Jordan mentioned in his other post) yesterday I wasn’t exactly happy. The Jays attendance is down this year so I feel they should be focusing more on that as opposed to pomoting a guy whom I have no interest in. I thought it looked out of place too but that may just be me.

Indigo, well said about the schedule.
