after the first couple weeks, the rotation placing doesn’t really matter. Each pitcher pitches every 5 days.
I hope they are able to get Ruiz into the lineup often enough.
I cannot believe that Tallet is our No.2 guy, and Cecil is in the minors, way to reward him for pitching his *** off this ST. Tallet has done everything in his power to prove that he should not be in the rotation. What a joke!
as far as 4th OF goes, Lind can play the field and someone else takes DH.

i continue to see the most negative comments being posted here. come on people, we are suppoed to be excited about the new season not bitch and complain about every roster move made from now until cito is gone. comon, we all know that the only person in the organization that has two… TWO world series belts in his resume is…. CITO, also, does anyone other than myself think that cito isn’t making the moves anymore? anyone? anyone? didn’t think so, quit your bitching, just be excited that baseball exists and Canada at all, I’m happy with Tallet being second, he’s more experienced and maybe he’s more ready than romero is. common he’s coming off a rookie season give the guys who know what they are talking about a little slack, comon guys, you are old enough to type therefore you are old enough to stop complaining like children..

Of all the very positive things that took place in this spring training, the very best, imo, was to see Nadir Mohamed come down and address the players and confirm the commitment from ownership.
One can tell how big an impact this had from the players comments:
“That’s the big guy,” Travis Snider said with a smile.
“I think from an organizational standpoint,” Blue Jays center fielder Vernon Wells said, “from the 25 guys on the roster to the manager and coaches, knowing that support is there wholeheartedly, not just with the passion, but also with the finance of the whole thing, it was fun just to get a chance to hear him speak. He’s a pretty cool CEO of a multibillion-dollar company.
“It just gives you a better sense of what’s truly going on behind the scenes. Team president and CEO Paul Beeston has preached nothing but how good our ownership is and their goals and building this organization back to a championship-caliber organization. To have Nadir come down and speak, all ears and eyes were tuned into him, and he’s a pretty special individual.”
“He’s a great speaker,” Snider said. “He’s got a pretty big franchise to run, and to take a day off to come down here and watch a baseball game and then speak to the team — that was great.”
The Toronto Blue Jays are indeed fortunate to have Rogers as the owner and I’m sure all fans owe a big thank you to Tony Viner, Paul Beeston and AA for making this happen..
m_vandeneykel33-Welcome to the blog-haven’t seen you post before. Funny, not one of the posts on this blog above dissed Cito and yet you feel the need to come on here and diss the fans for dissing Cito. Am I missing something here?
Personally, I think its great to see so many fans care about their team. Check out some of the “headline blogs” getting 130 to 200 posts per blog entry-that’s almost Yankee numbers.
What it shows is Jays fans are excited about the direction the team has taken under Beeston and AA. If they didn’t give a crap they wouldn’t be here.
There are different opinions, sometimes arguments, everyone has a view and opinion. You’re certainly welcome here to join in, but there really isn’t any need to diss any other poster for being passionate about this team. It could be a whole lot worse-there could be no one here.
i was just talking in general, from many other blogs, i’m just sick of it, the cito bashing that is. i’m excited to see how this season unfolds, they are not gonna win so..does it really matter who is playing? , im just glad there is baseball in canada period. gsjays- i am new to blogs, thank you for the reminder on how blogs “work”, anywho looking forward to monday, jays vs tex…gonna be sweet
It is precisely because they are not going to win that it is important who plays. Just about everyone understands that this is a tremendous opportunity to allow young players, like Cecil, develop at the major-league level. This is why people get passionate when they see a reliever like Tallet put into the starting rotation and the expense of a younger player, like Cecil. As for Cito, we have seen him take at-bats away from a player like Ruiz and give them to a player like Millar who was struggling. When asked why, Cito said it was to help the guy get a contract next year with some other team. In fact, he said something similar this year. Therefore, I think some of us are a little worried that this might be his modus operandi this year — a year when we can least afford not to develop our young players. Anyway, that is what I think. 🙂

m_vandeneykel33-Actually the Jays blogs are pretty tame ( Cito bashing) by comparison to the Yankee blogs or some of the others. Spend some time on some of their blogs after the Yanks lose 3 in a row and you’ll see they’re looking to hang someone, fire the manager, move the team-I mean it’s like panic city. The name calling and rude remarks is amazing.
I hope we never see that here, particularly over the next 2-3 years as the team is building to contend, because as exciting as all the future looks these young kids are going to make mistakes, go into slumps and generally screw up from time to time-Snider being a perfect example.
As he struggles to settle in we need to show patience, support him when he makes a mistake and cheer when he does something right because one day it will simply all kick in and imo, we’ll have a monster on our hands who will contend for the mvp virtually every year.
That being said, last year Cito did have some methods of playing guys that really irritated Jays fans-like Millar as an example. So it’s not surprising he gets bashed for some of his decisions from time to time, since if no one cared, they wouldn’t even bother to post here.
Personally, with the quality of reporting we’re getting from Bastian this year-which is the best of all MLB beat reporters, I hope fans continue to drop by and post, if for no other reason to show Bastian his honest straight forward Jays news reporting is appreciated.
Ok Ok.. I can understand why people would get upset over putting millar in the lineup last season, i too was a little confused on why he was getting at bats over ruiz but, comon, there has to be a reason on why cito insists on putting a more “valuable” player on the field whether or not its skill or just a good attitude, for all we know ruiz is a cancer in the clubhouse…noone is saying anything, but who knows, millar was a good guy to have on the bench, a good mentor, a guy who was slack, maybe helped releive some tension when halladay was pitching(or not), who knows, this year, i believe overbay does deserve to play, he’s getting paid what.. 7 mil? you gonna keep a good defensive player ont he bench paying the guy that much? plus, us jays fans should be excited that overbay “may” get us a potential all star prospect somewhere down the road if he does get traded, who’s gonna want to trade for a guy who sat on the bench the whole season? i’m no expert but i certainly wouldn’t want a guy like that, definatly not giving anyone a good prsopect for a guy like that, i dunno, i have too much respect for guyts who have played in the big leagues over a guy who’s been a career minor leager, right now the team is looking in the future, we have ruiz for what, 5 more years? yes i would like to see cecil pitch this year, but i also dont’ want to see young pitchers blow their chance too early, we’ve seen that before. All im saying is that there has to be a method to cito’s madness (or the guys in the top office) for that matter, yes i love this blog, and you are right, other teams are much worse in their blogs, i have read them, especially phillie fans..wooeee, are they brutal, im glad we aren’t that bad, i just can’t handle the cito bashing anymore but that is just my opinion
Actually, Cito said why he kept playing Millar which was for the same reason he’s going to play Overbay every day or almost everyday in spite of the fact Overbay has sucked against left handers since 2004. The reason was/is to help them get a good contract once they become free agents.
Frankly, Cito deserves to be bashed for that attitude, particularly when he’s getting paid $2 million a year by the Jays. His responsibility is to the club, not to helping the players get a new contract as free agents. By the way, I love Cito, I just don’t like some moves he makes-the above being one of them, but I rarely bash him.
I think we’ll need to agree to disagree on Overbay’s value, since I think if he was traded today, the very best we could do is get rid of his contract. The more likely scenario is we’d have to pick up at least 50% of his contract cost. The reason is what happened to the FA market this year, guys like Overbay were being signed at $2.5 to $3.5 mill., not $7 mill. like Overbay gets paid and the guys who signed for that range hit left handers better than Overbay.. In addition if we do hang onto him and let him become a FA, I doubt we’ll even get a draft pick for him, since I doubt he’d be offered arbitration.
