Speier to the Angels?

Peter Gammons is reporting on ESPN.com that Justin Speier and the Angels agreed on a four-year contract. It’s not officialy, yet, but the likelihood of him returning to the Jays was becoming slimmer and slimmer with each passing day. The Orioles and Indians were among the other teams courting him.

I’m a little more interested in Cat signing with Texas–especially the part where they say he might fill in at second sometimes.

I’m not sure where it says he will fill in at second sometimes? I read the article and it says he has played second. But will and has are two different words. I doubt he will play second in Texas they have Kinsler as there everyday guy there. Frank Thomas is a big upgrade over Catalanotto if he puts up close to the same numbers as last year.

From the outfield, Cat didnt look like he had enough speed/range to be an infiedler. isnt that why jays move him in the first place

So, we now know who’s gone and what the team is still lacking. How about some support for the starters in picking up Kei Igawa to eat up some innings. He’s also a rival of Godzilla and from a business perspective, the Japanese market would implode in TO for 1/10 of the price of Matsuzaka and nearly as much production on the field, if not more! Like Matsui, he’s completed his 9 year probabtion, so he’d come relatively cheap despite not being the highlight of the WBC and having the experience in the majors yet. There’s definitely no financial loss and only possibilities of a long awaited playoff berth lie ahead! It’s not jumping on the foreign band wagon, it’s pouncing on a good chance!
