I really have a hard time understanding why we keep running Towers out there every 5 games.

Regardless of how good your offense is, you can’t keep giving up an average of a run per inning and win.

This guy has been a disaster-last year and this one-why do we keep him. Dump him like we’ve dumped Thomas and Okha-clear the decks and get somone ready for next year.

Why don’t we designate the 5th starter position as a try out position and keep running in different minor leaguers until we find one that works out.

It certainly can’t be any worse than we get from this guy who throws batting practise slop every 5 days.

Nice to see another comeback win. Nice to see a win actually. I agree with, well everyone pretty much except the blue jays office agrees that Towers should be let go. Not sure who should take his spot, see how Ty. T does tomorrow.

I agree with gsumner about Towers, because I don’t think he’s going to get better. A lot of his problems are in his head, and a fresh start may help him refocus. If our #5 starter is going to get blown out after 4 innings, we may as well let some of our minor leaguers get some innings, because they at least have the potential to improve.

It’s a shame Towers can’t recall what he had from the season of 13 wins. I feel a fresh start (i.e. send him down to triple-A) would be good for him, although it took two trips last year to give the impression he improved. When Chacin (and Burnett) is back, we’ve got our 5. Until then, give the rookies a shot.
